| Volunteering at Delnor Wiggins has proven to be a rewarding experience for a growing number of folks. One of the few remaining unspoiled expanses of a true barrier island, the park can be a day long destination or a sunset half hour or a place to just go to walk for “a while”. And we, the members of the CSO hope we can help make everyone’s visit just a little better. How?
Well, the CSO volunteers have in the past couple of years:
- Cleaned up hurricane damage after both un-invited guests Charlie and Wilma
- Reconstructed major portions of the bathhouses and boardwalks
- Held art shows attracting some of the finest artists in the region
- Hosted days targeted to explain to young people “what is going on ecologically in South West Florida
- Done a bunch of other “little things” that make the park so much better
As the volunteers have been doing these things to enhance the visitors experience at Delnor Wiggins, they have been rewarded with the finest working conditions imaginable.
The Gulf of Mexico over one shoulder and the pristine mangrove swamp over the other! Where does it get better?
I hope you will join us literally and figuratively ---- join the CSO and join us in volunteering to improve the park experience for all.
